Virgin Atlantic A340-600 G-VYOU Withdrawn.

Virgin Atlantic A340-600 G-VYOU was withdrawn from service at London Heathrow this morning after arriving as VS46 from New York JFK. The aircraft positioned London Heathrow – London Gatwick as VS827P early in the evening.

Virgin Atlantic Confirms A350-100 Order.

Virgin Atlantic today confirmed an order for 12 Airbus A350-1000s. Eight aircraft will be purchased direct from the manufacturer for delivery from 2019 with four aircraft to be leased from ALC with deliveries commencing in 2020. The initially aircraft are earmarked for trans-Atlantic operations from London Heathrow in a Three Class 360 seat configuration with later deliveries going to London Gatwick to replace the Boeing 747-400 fleet in a Three Class 410 seat configuration.

The aircraft is in 31J/35W/198Y configuration and Billboard livery and is named “Dream Jeannie” and not “Dream Genie” as originally announced. This is odd as the ZIG registration appears to be David Bowie reference from his Ziggy Stardust phase and the name is a play on the David Bowie song “The Jean Genie”.  This brings the Virgin Atlantic B787-9 fleet up to four aircraft.

Virgin Atlantic Announce B787-9 First Route and Configuration.

Virgin Atlantic celebrated the 30th Anniversary of its inaugural service today by announcing that it will introduce the B787-9 Dreamliner into service on the London Heathrow – Boston route from 28th October 2014. The new aircraft will be configured 31J/35W/198Y.

Virgin Atlantic A330-300 G-VKSS Returns from Zurich Maintenance.

Virgin Atlantic A330-300 G-VKSS, which has been under maintenance at Zurich since 30th September, positioned Zurich – London Heathrow as VS822P this afternoon. The aircraft has been reconfigured from 59W/255Y to 33J/48W/185Y. This means all Virgin Atlantic A330-300s are now in Three Class 33J/48W/185Y configuration.

Virgin Atlantic A330-300 G-VKSS Positions to Zurich Maintenance.

Virgin Atlantic A330-300 G-VKSS positioned Glasgow – Zurich as VS961P for maintenance this morning after arriving as VS72 from Orlando. The aircraft will be reconfigured at Zurich and thus yesterday’s VS72 Orlando – Glasgow was the last Virgin Atlantic service to be operated by an A330-300 in 59W/255Y configuration.

Aer Lingus A320 EI-EZW arrived into Dublin on delivery today having routed Seletar – Male – Abu Dhabi – Sofia – Dublin. The aircraft is in Virgin Atlantic livery for Little Red UK Domestic services.

Aer Lingus A320 EI-DEO, which has been under maintenance at Shannon since 22nd March, positioned Shannon – Dublin this evening as EI992. The aircraft has been repainted into Virgin Atlantic livery and named “Queen of the Cobbles” for wet lease Virgin Atlantic “Little Red” UK Domestic services.

Aer Lingus A320 EI-EZW was placed onto the Irish Register today. The aircraft is former Meridiana Fly I-EEZF and is in Virgin Atlantic livery for the wet lease Little Red UK Domestic operations to commence next week.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-4Q8 G-VTOP positioned London Gatwick – Manchester as VS809P this afternoon for end of lease maintenance. The aircraft’s final flight in service was VS32 St Lucia – London Gatwick on 11th January. It has been on the ground as an operation spare at London Gatwick since then.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340-600 G-VMEG departed Lufthansa Technic at Manila today following end of lease maintenance and positioned Manila – Manchester as VS814P. The aircraft is expected to be painted plain white at Air Livery before being returned to the lessor.

A330-300 G-VGBR Delivered.

Virgin Atlantic accepted delivery of Airbus A330-300 G-VGBR today and positioned the aircraft Toulouse – Zurich for cabin modifications before service entry. This is the fifth Airbus A330-300 to be accepted by the airline.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340-600 G-VMEG positioned London Heathrow – Manila as VS813P this evening for end of lease maintenance. The aircraft arrived into London Heathrow as VS24 from Los Angeles this afternoon and this is expected to be its final passenger service for Virgin Atlantic.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300 G-VNYC entered service today operating the VS3/VS4 London Heathrow – New York JFK rotation. This is the fourth Airbus A330-300 to join the active fleet and the second Three Class example based at London Heathrow.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300 G-VNYC “Uptown Girl” was delivered to the airline today and positioned Toulouse – Zurich as VS813P for pre-service entry attention at Lufthansa Technic. This is the fourth A330-300 to join the active Virgin Atlantic fleet and the seventh of the ten aircraft the airline has on order to be delivered. Currently two aircraft operate on lease to Air China and one on lease to Ryan International. G-VNYC is in Three Class configuration.

Virgin Atlantic A330-300 G-VRAY Enters Service with New Upper Class.

Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300 G-VRAY entered service today operating the VS3/VS4 London Heathrow – New York JFK rotation. The aircraft is the third A330-300 to enter service with the airline and the first to be configures in a Three Class 33J/48W/181Y layout.

This is the first aircraft to feature Virgin’s new Upper Class Dream Suite product which features a new layout of dovetailed seats in the middle section permitting a 1-2-1 layout rather than the 1-1-1 layout featured on previous Airbus aircraft.
