Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL positioned London Gatwick – London Heathrow as VS807P early this afternoon in order to operate the VS45/VS46 London Heathrow – New York JFK rotation. This is only the second use of a Boeing 747-400 in service from London Heathrow since regular services ended on March 29th 2016.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL operating VS44 Las Vegas – London Gatwick stopped the climb at 8,000ft due to a wheel well fire indication and returned to Las Vegas for a safe landing. The aircraft was able to operate the flight after around two hours on the ground.

Virgin Atlantic commenced a limited series of flights on the Belfast International – Orlando route today with Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL positioning London Gatwick – Belfast International as VS161P this morning in order to operate the inaugural VS161 Belfast International – Orlando service.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL positioned London Gatwick – Manchester as VS75P this morning in order to operate VS75 Manchester – Orlando. This was to replace A330-300 G-VKSS which arrived into Manchester as VS76 from Orlando this morning.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL operated VS15 London Gatwick – Orlando today however the return VS16 has been delayed overnight indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL positioned London Gatwick – Xiamen this evening as VS811P where the aircraft will be reconfigured into 14J/66W/375Y configuration. The aircraft had been scheduled to depart on 8th September. All previous reconfigurations have been undertaken at Hong Kong.

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL operated yesterday’s delayed VS43/VS44 London Gatwick – Las Vegas rotation this morning as VS43A/VS44A. Today’s scheduled rotation on the route was operated by sister G-VLIP.

Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL operated today’s inaugural VS93/VS94 London Gatwick – Cancun service. The service will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Due to the technical issue encountered by sister G-VGAL yesterday, Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-443 G-VROY positioned London Gatwick – Manchester this morning as VS73P in order to operate VS73 Manchester – Orlando.

Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL positioned London Gatwick – Manchester today as VS807P this afternoon then operated VS85 Manchester – Las Vegas. Meanwhile Boeing 747-41R G-VAST, which had arrived into Manchester as VS74 from Orlando, positioned Manchester – London Gatwick as VS808P.

Gatwick Inbounds Divert to Stansted.

High winds at London Gatwick caused  two inbound flights to divert via London Stansted this morning, each having had two attempts to land at London Gatwick.

The affected flights were VS16 Orlando – London Gatwick operated by Boeing 747-443 G-VGAL and VS44 Las Vegas – London Gatwick operated by sister G-VLIP.
